To All Sheridan Beach Residents –
It’s that time of year again. Time to think about warmer weather, shorts and t-shirts, barbeque, days at the beach … and being a part of the Sheridan Beach Homeowners Association for 2019.
Our three regular Saturday seasonal meetings are scheduled to be held at “the Circle” at Beachwalk (Stop 7) on:
Memorial Day May 25th
Independence Day July 13th (the weekend after the 4th of July)
Labor Day August 31st
The meetings start at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude no later than 10:00 a.m.
A lot has happened since we last met over Labor Day weekend. We were successful in defeating a petition to expand the number of units that could be built at Whisper Dunes. With our support, the City Council finally adopted a new Lakefront Development Zoning Ordinance. We monitored and shared information on Indiana Senate Bill 581. We asked the City to consider painting shared-lane markings on Lake Shore Drive to help mark the appropriate direction of travel for bikers and pedestrians and to provide additional safety. I’m pleased to report that the Board of Works has approved the signage pending funding. As all can see, that’s just some of the great things happening in Michigan City.
Last Labor Day I also reported that SBHA’s bylaws were in need of substantial updating. As it turns out, we also need to update our Articles of Incorporation and our tax status. We will circulate materials about the new bylaws, amendments to the Articles, and our tax status in advance of the meeting. We also will be providing a financial update, information about dues and membership for 2019, and a report on security. Please plan to attend what will be sure to be a very important meeting.
Being part of SBHA is a great way to meet your neighbors, learn about things happening in Michigan City, have your voice heard on issues that we care about, and contribute to maintaining the safety, quality, and quiet enjoyment of our community.
You can join SBHA and pay your dues online by clicking on “Join SBHA.” It’s easy and secure (we’re using PayPal). You also can mail your membership sign-up sheet and dues payment form.
It is important to have as many paid members as possible. Only with a healthy membership can we continue to be an effective and credible voice for Sheridan Beach, advocates for issues that concern us, and provide the added security that has improved our community and increased its value.
Be sure to provide us updated information on your Michigan City address, your “winter” address, and your e-mail address. Without that, we will not be able to communicate with you effectively.
We look forward to seeing you this summer. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact Jed Mandel (email@example.com), Tom Marren (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kimberly Pendo (email@example.com). See you on May 25th.
